The health of our river

How clean is the River Rother? Is it teeming with all the right kind of nature? Would it be safe to wild swim in it? How could we know? How could we find out? ERA would like to set up a Freshwater Watch Group under the scheme detailed here. It would involve a small number of people committing to taking and testing river samples on a regular basis and submitting those results online. We have volunteers keen to take on this role. Now there is just the minor detail of paying the set up costs, around £300, and then the ongoing costs, which depends on how many sites are being tested and how frequently but likely to be something like £20 per month or less. In the first instance we are investigating the possibility of sponsorship for this venture. So, do you know an individual with a particular interest in our river, or maybe a local business that might like to get involved, or maybe you know a trustee managing a bequest fund and looking for a worthwhile cause to support? Please share with us any thoughts you have on this proposal by using the form on the Join Us page.
