People’s Emergency Briefing Screening

In November 2025, more than 1,200 MPs, peers and leaders from business, culture, faith, sport and the media gathered at Westminster Central Hall for the National Emergency Briefing - a landmark event bringing together leading experts to assess the UK’s exposure to climate and nature risks.

This national event has now been adapted into a 50-minute public film. This is an eye-opening film featuring 9 leading UK scientists and experts updating us on the latest in the climate and nature crisis and its impact on everyday national life, together with some reaction from members of the public. Public screenings of this film are being organised all over the country, and ERA is screening the film on Tuesday 9 June, at 7pm, at Henry Warren Hall, Nyewood. If you are concerned about climate change, and environmental degradation, seeing this film is probably the most important thing you can do this year.

The warnings are stark, and speaker after speaker emphasized that we have squandered the luxury of time - actions are needed now. Another common theme is that far from being a budgetary luxury, action to mitigate these threats will save money in the long term.

The individual presentations are available on Youtube, and recognising the importance of these messages, ERA has reviewed each of the 10 subjects already on our blog pages:

After the screening we will open the floor for discussion, chaired by Jonathan Brown,  councillor for Chichester North, and Chichester District Council Deputy Leader and Cabinet Holder for Environmental Strategy.

The National Emergency Briefing has a website here. If you would like to see the film but cannot make it to our screening, there is also an interactive map of other screenings around the country.
